Frequently Asked Questions
What size Dubia should I get for my bearded dragon?
Most juvenile to adult bearded dragons do best with Medium (½–¾"). Always choose a roach no wider than the space between your dragon’s eyes to prevent choking.
Do you ship Dubia roaches to Florida?
No. Dubia roaches are restricted in Florida. We cannot ship them to Florida addresses.
Do Dubia roaches bite, climb, or fly?
No. They do not bite, cannot climb smooth plastic or glass, and males rarely fly (and not well). This makes them much easier and cleaner to keep than crickets.
How long do Dubia roaches live?
With proper care they can live several months to over a year. Adults typically live 1.5–2 years. Keep them at 80–90°F with good ventilation and they stay healthy much longer than crickets.
How should I keep them when they arrive?
Transfer them immediately into a smooth-sided container with egg crates for climbing. Provide dry food and water crystals (never open water). Keep the container warm (80–90°F) and well ventilated.
Do I need to gut-load and dust them?
Yes. Gut-load for 24–48 hours with fresh vegetables or a quality roach diet, then lightly dust with calcium powder right before feeding. This greatly improves the nutrition your pet receives.
Can I start a breeding colony with these?
Yes. Our Large size works well for starting or boosting a colony. Provide higher heat (around 90°F), egg crates, and consistent food/water crystals for best breeding results.
How is live arrival guaranteed?
We use weather-aware packing from our farm in Dunn, NC. If you have issues, contact us with photos within 24 hours of delivery and we will make it right (when temperature guidelines are followed).

Why Choose Carolina Crickets Dubia Roaches:

- Raised on a Premium Diet: Cultivated on a clean, strictly balanced plant-based diet to ensure high-quality, safe gut-loading.
- The Worry-Free Feeder: Unlike crickets, they cannot jump, fly, climb smooth plastic or glass, or bite your pets.
- Consistent Grading: Sorted accurately by size to guarantee predictable, safe feedings for your exotic pets.
What to Expect on Arrival:
Open your shipping box immediately upon delivery. Gently transfer your Dubia roaches into a smooth-sided, well-ventilated plastic or glass enclosure. Provide vertical cardboard egg crates to maximize climbing surface area. Offer a dry, high-quality grain diet alongside a safe moisture source like water crystals or fresh produce to prevent drowning. Note: Keep them in a warm environment, as they thrive and remain active at higher temperatures.
Count Policy and Care Note:
Counts are determined by volume and weight, allowing for minor variations due to the dense nature of live nymphs. While highly resilient, Dubia roaches are tropical insects; extreme external temperatures during shipping can impact live arrival. Please plan your orders with your local weather forecast in mind.
Quick Tip:
Because Dubia roaches are much wider and more heavily built than crickets of the same length, always measure the space between your reptile's eyes. If you are transitioning from crickets, err on the side of caution and buy one size smaller than you normally would to ensure safe swallowing.

Quick tip:
When in doubt between two sizes, choose smaller and offer a few more per feeding. It is safer and easier for most animals to take multiple smaller prey items than a single oversized one.
